Fukushima Travel Guide

Fukushima, the third largest prefecture in Japan by size, is also the southernmost in the Tohoku region, and home to numerous famous hot springs, stunning mountains, Aizu Wakamatsu Castle, and Ouchi-juku, an Edo era village as well.

The no-entry areas created by the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and subsequent Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster make up just a small part of the coastal side of the prefecture, while the western side of Fukushima and the interior around Aizu Wakamatsu escaped heavy contamination.
