While the Aizu kogen (Aizu highland) in Fukushima Prefecture might seem far away, in reality, considering the time saved, it's overwhelmingly smoother and more comfortable than famous ski resorts near the city center.
If you are coming by train ( recommended)
From Asakusa Station, take the Tobu Limited Express Liberty Aizu (approximately 3 hours, no transfers), and from Aizu Kogen Ozeguchi Station, you can take a shared on-demand taxi (reservations required by 5 PM the day before) directly to the front of the inn (approximately 30 minutes).
[ Points to note when boarding]
All seats are reserved: a separate "Limited Express Ticket" must be purchased in advance, in addition to the basic fare ticket. Express tickets can be purchased by credit card on the Tobu Railway website starting one month before the date of travel (from 9:00 AM).
IC cards (Suica/PASMO) cannot be used: The destination, "Aizu Kogen Ozeguchi Station," is outside the IC card area (unmanned station), so you cannot pay with an IC card upon alighting. Please be sure to purchase a paper ticket for the entire route at Asakusa Station or elsewhere before boarding.
Credit card payment: If you wish to pay for all your train tickets and express train tickets at Asakusa Station using a credit card, the safest option is to use the counter at the "Tobu Tourist Service Center Asakusa " on the first floor of Asakusa Station.
If you are coming by car (※Snow tires are required)
It takes about 3.5 hours from central Tohoku(exit at Nishinasuno-Shiobara IC). It's true that it's a bit of a distance from the highway interchange. However, at large ski resorts near the interchange, you'll lose a huge amount of time due to "huge traffic jams to get into the parking lot," "long lines for rentals," and "extremely crowded lifts and restaurants." Considering that lost time, it's far more comfortable to travel a little further to Takatsue Ski Resort! You'll be free from traffic jams and crowds, and you can start skiing as soon as you arrive, making it excellent in terms of time efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
On your way there or back, we recommend extending your trip to visit the Maezawa Magariya village or stopping by Nasushiobara Onsen.

At Familia Aizu highland, we strongly recommend a relaxed stay of 2-3 nights or more , rather than a rushed one-night trip. We offer a variety of leisurely stay plans tailored to your child's energy level and pace.
Day 1: Relaxing arrival and refreshing at the hot springs
You boarded the Limited Express train Liberty Aizu at Asakusa Station, enjoying the snowy scenery from the window as we departed. You arrived at Aizu Kogen Ozeguchi Station in the early afternoon and took a pre-booked on-demand taxi to our accommodation. After checking in, we relaxed in the lounge and then walked three minutes to Takatsue Onsen Shirakaba no Yu, where we soothed away the fatigue of your long journey in preparation for playing in the snow. In the evening, you enjoyed warm conversations with the staff and other guests in the lounge while sipping local sake.
Day 2: Have a blast playing in the snow at the backyard park and on the slopes with 100% natural snow!
After enjoying homemade bread and coffee at the breakfast table where conversation flows naturally, it's time to play in the snow! Head to Takatsue Ski Resort, just a 5-minute walk away. On the spacious slopes with 100% natural snow, children can play safely while adults enjoy the magnificent view from the mountaintop and the powder snow. If you start to get tired in the afternoon, head to the "backyard mini snow park" right behind the inn for sledding or building snowmen. If the children get cold, you can quickly walk back to the heated lounge in just 10 seconds for a warm drink and a rest. In the afternoon and evening, you can play board games at the inn or enjoy a tasting of local sake from Minamiaizu, making for a special evening that's only possible with a multi-night stay.
Day 3: Check out slowly, and head out for sightseeing.
After enjoying a breakfast, check out. There's no need to rush back. You can continue your Fukushima trip by taking a demand taxi or train to the historic thatched-roof village of Ouchi-juku, or take a sightseeing route that includes a stop in the Nikko/ Kinu River area, home to a World Heritage site, before heading back towards Tokyo .
