The observatory of "Mt. Daruma Kogen Rest House" (Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture) is a scenic spot with a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji over Suruga Bay. When the Japanese government exhibited photographs of Mt. Fuji at the New York World Exposition in 1939, the area around the rest house was chosen as a shooting location for its "Japan's best view."
