The Scenic & Retro "Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park"in Nara
This amusement park is located on a mountain, which is rare in Japan, and offers beautiful views from the top of the mountain and rides that even small children can enjoy. This amusement park with a long history, having opened in 1929, has retro rides that are still in operation to delight children, and is popular with families and couples. Another nice thing is that admission is free. Opening hours are usually from 10:00 to 17:00, but closing hours are extended during the summer holidays and the park is closed from December to mid-March.

Ride the Cute Ikoma Cable Car to Enter the Park

To get to the amusement park, walk about three minutes from Kintetsu Ikoma Station and take the cable car from Torii Station. Change to the cable car at the next station, Takayama Station, and it will take about 16 minutes to get to the final stop, Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park Station. The cable car is shaped like a dog character. Bull and Mike will greet you at Torii Station, and Doremi and Sweet will greet you at Takayama Station. You'll be excited even before you enter the park!
Kintetsu Ikoma Station boasts excellent accessibility from Osaka , being approximately 20 minutes by rapid train from Osaka Namba Station and about 15 minutes from Kintetsu Nara Station.

When is Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park closed?
The park is closed every Thursday (except August 13th), as well as on August 12th (Wednesday), September 8th (Tuesday), September 9th (Wednesday), September 25th (Friday), and will be closed for the winter season from December 7th (Monday).
