Toyama Travel Guide

Toyama prefecture is located in the Hokuriku region. With excellent access to the Japan Sea thanks to its many rivers, Toyama is known as a region of waters. On the other hand, the Tateyama mountain range is also one of Toyama's iconic sights.

This area has played an important strategic role in Japan's history, especially in the 15th century when several rulers battled for supremacy, and later on in the Edo period (1603 - 1868) when it developed as an area famous for its production of medicine and glass.
