Said to be a sacred site discovered by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) in 807, it is the symbol of Shuzenji Onsen. Kobo Daishi (Kukai) was touched by the filial piety of a boy washing his sick old father in the cold water of the Katsura River. It is said to be the oldest hot spring resort in Izu. *Currently, bathing and footbaths are not available.
