``Yamagata Unknown Experience'' is an experiential tour proposed by Yubo Ichiraku that allows you to explore the deep culinary background of Yamagata through a journey. As a memorable first event, "Morning Fresh Hop Harvesting & Beer Making in Shirataka Town" was held from August 3rd to 4th!

◆Tears of Mr. Tsuchiya, a living witness of the history of beer in Yamagata Prefecture

It was in 2022 that we met Mr. Tsuchiya, a hop farmer in Shirataka Town. Through a mutual acquaintance from Shirataka Town, I heard that Mr. Tsuchiya cultivates a type of American hop, ``Cascade,'' as a hobby, in addition to contract cultivation for major manufacturers, and I decided to try making beer with that hop. Could you please give me one? The story begins when the brewers of TENDO BREWERY begged. The hops made by craftsmen with more than 60 years of experience are exquisite and high-quality hops, and the support of local tourism business operators who have experienced the rich aroma that rushes through the nostrils of fresh hop beer made with Shirataka hops picked in the morning. As a result, we have decided to sublimate a series of experiences into a travel tour. Above all, Mr. Tsuchiya's tears as he drank beer made with 100% hops grown by himself for the first time in his 60-plus years of hop farming ignited the passion of all of us at Chiraku! !

Although it was very thick, the harvest experience was a great success! All the participants were very happy, and it was a hot day in many ways. In addition, in conjunction with the completion of the beer brewed on this day, we will hold a "Tendo Onsen Oktoberfest" in the fall, and a toasting ceremony will be held during the two-day "Oktoberfest" held on September 30th and October 1st. The number of hop farmers in Yamagata Prefecture has decreased from 3,000 to 30, but in fact, the number of craft beer brewing facilities in the prefecture has doubled, from 5 until 2022 to about 10 in the next few years.
