Shuzenji is a Soto sect temple located in Shuzenji, Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It was founded in the second year of Daido (807) by Kobo Daishi Kukai, the founder of the Shingon sect.​ It became the Rinzai sect during the Kencho era (1249-1255), and its temple was destroyed by fire during the war in 1409, but it was later rebuilt by Hojo Soun, who ruled Izu Province, and became the current Soto sect.
