What kind of place is Kure?

Kure City is located approximately 30 minutes by train from Hiroshima City, where the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park are located. Surrounded by the Seto Inland Sea and mountains, the city is lined with brick buildings and cranes, making it an area where you can enjoy a different atmosphere from Hiroshima City. It is also a place connected to the navy, so you can feel its history and culture in many places.

As you pass through the flat city area and go up the slope, you can see houses built from the Taisho era to the early Showa era that were spared from war damage. The population of Kure rapidly increased before the war, and in search of land, houses were built in rows from flat to slope, creating a landscape unique to Kure.
