"Little Fun DIY Studio" started from something I love

After graduating from university, the owner, Becky, was struggling to decide whether to start her own shop or get a job. At the time, Becky loved tufting, which was popular in Korea, and made pieces using that technique. Her desire to do what she loved for a living won out, and she decided to start up "Little Fun DIY Studio."
Tufting is a method of making carpets and rugs by using power tools to plant fibers into fabric. It is a technique with a history of about 100 years, but with the current boom in handmade crafts, it is attracting attention again as a way to easily create highly finished, original fabric art designs.

Becky wanted to share the joy of tufting, but there were few tufting specialty shops in Nagoya , and they were expensive. She wanted a place like this in her hometown, so she started a studio. When it first opened, it was a tufting-only studio, but later, she incorporated polled bear art, which is popular in China, into the vacant second floor space of a store. It became a hot topic on social media, and now it's a popular workshop that attracts customers of all ages from all over the country.

The Fun of Bear Polling Art

Becky says the appeal of Poring Bear Art is that even if you use the same materials, completely different pieces are created. Poring Art is a technique in which a mixture of special materials and acrylic paint is dripped onto a canvas to create a work of art.
The unpredictable movement of the liquid mixes with the marbled patterns, creating beautiful designs. What's more, the canvas for Poring Bear Art is a bear-shaped plastic figure. The adorable bears are made by dripping acrylic paint onto them, so even those with no artistic talent can easily try their hand at creating adorable artwork, which is one of the attractions. Neither Becky nor the customers themselves can control the final product, so they don't know what the finished product will look like. The excitement of waiting for the piece to be completed is the greatest fun of Poring Bear Art.

It is also popular to add illustrations of flowers, stars, etc. with a brush to bears that have been finished with polling art, making them even more unique. Polling bear art allows you to infuse your original ideas into your work, and I felt that its richness offers endless possibilities.

Becky says that at first she was unsure how to advertise her business. "I was approached by various companies and restaurants, and I set up stalls at events, which led to meeting a wide range of customers, and I really feel like the circle of art is expanding," she says with a smile. Now, influencers and celebrities visit her shop, and she enjoys the encounters and interactions she has had since starting it.
Becky also places great importance on interacting with the children who visit her shop. "It's more fun than anything to be exposed to the children's spirit of challenge and creativity," she says. Becky smiles broadly and says it's refreshing and delightful to be called "teacher" by the children. "Little Fun DIY Studio" is a beloved place that welcomes parents and children to join in the experience and is enjoyed by the whole family. From the excitement of waiting for the unexpected end result to the adorable marbled bear, "Little Fun DIY Studio" is a place that will bring out the artistic side of you.
