Hiroshima Castle, also known as "Carp Castle," was begun by Mori Terumoto in 1589. Although the main keep was destroyed by the atomic bomb, its exterior was restored in 1958, and it has long been a popular museum showcasing Hiroshima 's samurai culture. The castle closed in March 2026, and entry into the main keep is no longer permitted, but the exterior can still be viewed.

Mitchan Sohonten is a long-established okonomiyaki restaurant founded in 1950 and is said to be the origin of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. It has grown alongside Hiroshima's post-war reconstruction from a burnt-out Hiroshima , and it is said that the current standard of okonomiyaki, including the creation of okonomiyaki sauce, combinations of ingredients, the inclusion of noodles, and the style of eating with a spatula, all started at "Mitchan Sohonten"!
The restaurant has 74 seats, but it is expected to be crowded during lunchtime. We recommend visiting early or getting takeout and enjoying it on the rooftop observation deck of HIROSHIMA ORIZURU TOWER !
