In Niimi City , Okayama Prefecture , the " mt project at NIIMI " is being held, a collaboration between the Masking Tape brand "mt" and the local community. In addition to a spatial exhibition where you can enjoy colors and patterns, you can also enjoy shopping for limited edition tapes and a stamp rally around the town.

The event will run from September 1st (Tuesday) to October 12th (Monday/National Holiday), 2026. It is a limited-time event held as part of the " Okayama Hareiro Campaign 2026". We will introduce the highlights of the venue and bus tours that you can participate in from around Okayama Station.

What is MT?

"mt" is a Masking Tape brand from Kamoi Kakoshi, headquartered in Kurashiki City , Okayama Prefecture Prefecture. At this event, you can enjoy "installations" using the colors and patterns of the tapes at three venues in Niimi City. It is recommended not only for stationery and design lovers, but also for those who want to capture the scenery of their travel destination in a different way.

I went to Niimi Cultural Exchange Center to buy art and limited edition tapes.

The Niimi Cultural Exchange Center, located next to the "Manabi no Mori Niimi Library," will feature a spatial exhibition and a limited-time shop by mt. Exclusive tapes will also be available for purchase. After enjoying the exhibition, be sure to look for your favorite colors and patterns. These items are perfect for yourself or as souvenirs for stationery lovers.

Enjoy the waterwheel and mt scenery at Yumesuki Park.

Yumesuki Park, located along the river, is a popular spot known for its "Parent-Child-Grandchild Waterwheels," a row of waterwheels of various sizes. During the event period, mt's spatial exhibition will be added, allowing visitors to enjoy the park's scenery along with the colorful decorations. Yumesuki Park

719-3611 1977-1 Kamigo Shimojinshiro, Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture

``Yumesuki Park'' is a park known for having the largest ``parent-descendant water wheel'' in Japan. The diameter of each waterwheel is 13.6m for the parent, 6m for the child, and 4.5m for the grandchild, and the name derives from the appearance of a parent, child, and grandchild lined up. There is also a ``Kami-no-Yakata'' exhibiting the history of Okubichu Jindai Washi, which has been passed down in the northern part of Bitchu, and you can also try your hand at paper-making (for a fee) where you can make your own original fans and postcards. The highlight is the scenery that changes its appearance depending on the season. Around August, wind chimes called ``Kamisama Yume Furin'' and strips of paper made from Jindai Japanese paper are displayed, making it a great photo spot.

I encountered limited-edition mt colors at JR Bicchu-Kojiro Station.

JR Bicchu-Kojiro Station has also been transformed into a photo spot decorated with mt products for a limited time. The charm of this event is that you can enjoy different scenery at each venue. An mt station stamp is also available at the station. When taking photos, please be careful not to obstruct the passage of people using the station.

Explore the town of Niimi with a stamp rally.

In conjunction with the event, the "mt Stamp Rally @NIIMI" will also be held. Visit the mt shop at the Niimi Cultural Exchange Center and participating stores and facilities throughout the city, and collect a total of three stamps by fulfilling the specified conditions to receive a limited-edition original Masking Tape. Try exploring the town of Niimi while combining dining, shopping, and sightseeing.

How to participate: Pick up a stamp card at an mt shop or similar location and collect one stamp from each of the A, B, and C categories. For category A, purchase 550 yen (tax included) or more of mt products at the Niimi Cultural Exchange Center mt shop. For categories B and C, purchase 550 yen (tax included) or more at the respective participating stores or facilities. Simply visiting or using the facilities for free does not qualify. Each person is limited to one stamp per person during the campaign period, and the number of stamps is limited.

Take a bus tour departing from and returning to Okayama Station to the venue and Maki-do Cave.

For those who want to visit multiple venues without driving, there's also the option of a Niimi sightseeing bus tour. Departing from the area around JR Okayama Station, the tour visits the three mt venues plus Maki-do Cave. It also includes stops at shopping spots, allowing you to enjoy Niimi sightseeing in one day.

Makido Cave

719-2721 2276-2 Akauma, Toyonaga, Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture

A 450m-long limestone cave designated as a natural monument by the prefecture. In 1929, the poets Yosano Tekkan and Akiko praised it as a "cave full of wonders," and it came to be called Makido. The silent cave is lit up with colorful LEDs, creating a mystical atmosphere. There are plenty of things to see, such as the Ryugu Bridge over the inner lake at the very back of the cave, and Senmaida, one of Japan's best rimstone fields. The Lover's Fountain in the cave has been selected as a "Sacred Place for Lovers." From Saturday, September 28, 2024 to Sunday, November 24, 2024, the international art festival "Forest Art Festival: Okayama, Land of Sunshine" will be held in the north of Okayama Prefecture, and Makido has been selected as the exhibition venue for art works. Photographer and film director Mika Ninagawa will exhibit her works in Makido.
