Kunjudo, located on Awaji Island, is a long-established store with a history of 130 years and boasts the largest production volume of incense sticks in Japan. Kunjudo not only provides high-quality, environmentally friendly incense and incense sticks, but also develops innovative products to meet the needs of the times, such as almost smoke-free incense sticks called ``slightly smoked incense sticks.'' .

This time I visited the long-established store ``Kunjudo''. ``Kunjudo'', which started in 1893 as ``Fukunaga Senko Store'', now not only provides environmentally friendly and high quality incense sticks, but also offers products such as ``slightly smoked incense sticks''. We have developed many products that meet the needs of the times.

1. Incense making experience

If you want to try making incense with your own hands, just make a reservation in advance and you can try it! The trial fee is 1000 yen per time. This is an experience program that anyone can enjoy, whether it's friends, couples, or families with children.

The staff will explain things in Japanese, but even if you don't understand Japanese, there are English instructions with photos so it's easy for foreign visitors tourists to understand.

First, start by choosing your favorite scent. You can choose from 6 types of fragrances, including yuzu, marine, herb, and rose. This time, I chose the marine scent. The refreshing scent is perfect for memories of Awaji Island, surrounded by the sea.

There are many types of cutting molds available, so you can choose the mold you like and make your own incense.　Once this is complete, you can put it in a special case and take it home. Let it dry for 3-4 days and it's done!

2. Exhibition room filled with fragrance

In the exhibition room, there is an introductory video about the history and scent of various woods and raw materials. The scent of incense is gentle and has a relaxing effect on the mind and relieves stress. Perfect for those of us who lead busy lives to relax.

3. Showroom

We recommend Kunjudo's standard series ``Aroma Code''. ``Aroma Code'' is a string incense that has a carefully blended scent and can be used as incense at any length, or as an alternative to a ribbon. Through these incense, you can feel the unique scent of natural beauty. The ``Aroma Code'' series has an elegant scent that will make your room an elegant space.

From Kobe Sannomiya:

Take the express bus bound for "Takadaya Kahei Park" from "Shinki Bus Kobe Sannomiya Bus General Terminal"

Get off at "Gunke" bus stop and walk for about 5 minutes.

For private cars:

Approximately 10 minutes by car from "Kobe Awaji Naruto Expressway" "Tsuna Ichinomiya IC"

Exit from Tsuna Ichinomiya IC, turn right at the intersection and enter Prefectural Route 88.

It is on the right side, 300m past the Izanagi Shrine and in front of the Gunke traffic light.
