Nara Travel Guide
Nara prefecture is found in the Kansai region of Japan, located to the south of Kyoto.
A landlocked prefecture, Nara was the capital of Japan nearly 1400 years ago and is home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites than anywhere else in Japan, many of which are centered around Nara Park, where you will find Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and of course, hundreds of polite deer.
