A Stunning Autumn View in Japan: Easily Accessible from Nagoya & Osaka

Yunoyama Onsen, the starting point of the Gozaisho Ropeway, is located 400m above sea level, so it is a little cool.
If you take the ropeway to Mt. Gozaisho, which is 1,212 meters above sea level, you will be in the early autumn season. The clear autumn air makes for a wonderful view, and you can see the Alps in the distance from the beautiful cityscape of Mie Prefecture.
You can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view from the summit, and the mountain park has plenty to offer, including a restaurant with a great view, a sightseeing lift, and walking trails.
The ropeway fare is 2,600 yen round trip for adults, 1,300 yen round trip for children, and free for children aged 1 to 3. *Children aged 13 and over are charged the adult fare.
Scenic Autumn Foliage Spots at Mt. Gozaisho
1. View from the ropeway window

The autumn foliage front descends from late October to mid-November. We recommend the autumn leaves from near the ropeway's mountaintop park station down to the middle of the mountain. In late October, the autumn leaves that paint the rocky slopes near the ropeway's mountaintop park station are magnificent and beautiful. In November, the valley near the Gozaisho Ropeway's symbol tower, "Tower No. 6," becomes like a tapestry, and a breathtakingly beautiful landscape unfolds.

However, it will be very crowded during this period, so we recommend going on a weekday. Also, if you use public transportation on weekends and holidays, you will not have to wait in line in traffic jams, so we recommend using trains and buses during this period.
2. The crimson-colored mountain park

Around October 20th every year, the azalea leaves at Summit Park reach their peak of autumn color. The mountaintop is particularly home to a large number of plants of the Ericaceae family, including red azaleas, white azaleas, and Enkianthus campanulata, and when the azalea leaves turn red in autumn, the world becomes a deep crimson red. The autumn color phenomenon occurs when the daytime temperature is low and the nights drop suddenly, causing the production of anthocyanin pigments, which turn the leaves a vibrant red. Because the temperature is lower at the top of the mountain than at the base, the leaves can be seen turning autumn earlier.
3. Take a leisurely stroll through the autumn leaves on a sightseeing lift

Beautiful azalea colonies line the sightseeing lift, allowing you to enjoy autumn foliage during the ride. The lift connects Ropeway Sanjo Park Station to the summit of Mt. Gozaisho, covering 500 m in about 8 minutes. One-way fares are 400 yen, and round-trip fares are 700 yen, with the same price for adults and children aged 4 and over. The lift consists of single-seater cabins.
*For safety reasons, please refrain from carrying children on board.
Yunoyama Onsen, located at the foot of the Gozaisho Ropeway, turns into a fantastical world in late November as the maple trees along the clear stream turn beautiful colors.

4. Enjoy the Gozaisho cuisine along with the spectacular scenery, such as "Gozaisho Curry Udon."

At Mount Gozaisho Summit Park, there is a restaurant called "Nature" with a magnificent view, where you can enjoy the famous "Gozaisho Curry Udon" as well as seasonal menus and sweets. How about enjoying a meal or cafe time while taking in the magnificent view?
5. A new Instagrammable spot, "COCORU Terrace," has opened in the mountaintop park!
A new Instagrammable spot, "COCORRU Terrace," opened at Gozaisho-dake Mountain Park on October 31, 2025. From the terrace, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Ise Shima area of Mie Prefecture , and there is also a swing with a spectacular view that offers both thrills and a great view. Take your time to enjoy the scenery and make the most of Gozaisho at this new photogenic spot.
