What is Hyogo Prefecture City, Toyooka City ?

Toyooka City in Hyogo Prefecture is located in the northeastern part of Hyogo Prefecture, bordering the Nihon Sea to the north and Kyoto Prefecture to the east, with the Maruyama River River, the mother river of the prefecture, flowing majestically through its center. It is a city where the Oriental White Stork, a nationally designated special natural monument, has been released into the wild, and a grand initiative is underway to reintroduce them into the wild in a populated area, a feat unprecedented in the world. The city is also part of the San'in Kaigan Geopark area and is surrounded by magnificent nature, including Genbudo Cave, the site where the reversal of the Earth's magnetic field was discovered. It is also known as one of Japan's leading bag production areas, and on "Bag Street," where you can enjoy looking at unique designs, you can not only purchase bags but also have them repaired and cleaned.

In Hyogo Prefecture, you can enjoy a variety of sightseeing activities, whether by the sea, Kyoto , or rivers, including Kinosaki Onsen, a popular hot spring resort known as a tourist destination within the Hyogo , Kannabe Ski Resort, one of the best in western Japan, Izushi Castle Town, known as the "Little Kyoto of Tajima," and Takenohama Beach, which has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Beaches.

Golf trip to Kannabe Takaharu!

Kannabe Takaharu, famous for its crater of the newest volcano in the Kinki region, "Kannabe Volcano," and power spots such as "Hattan Falls," a waterfall basin overflowing with negative ions, is a resort area surrounded by abundant nature. It can be accessed from Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe by train in about 2 hours to the nearest JR Ebara Station, and then by bus in about 30 minutes from JR Ebara Station.

Kannabe Takaharu is a peaceful town with a population of about 1,000 people, offering views of vast rice paddies and fields, surrounded by mountains, and a sky full of stars at night, making it a perfect place to relax. There are resort hotels, guesthouses, and inns scattered around the area, making it an ideal place for extended stays.

Kannabe Takaharu offers a variety of activities throughout the four seasons. In spring, you can enjoy foraging for wild vegetables, trekking, and rainbow trout fishing. In summer, you can enjoy golf, paragliding, tennis, and camping. In autumn, the autumn foliage and waterfall tours are popular, and in winter, the area transforms into a snowy field with skiing, snowboarding, and easy snowshoeing.

Among the sports I recommend these days is golf. There are two golf courses in Kannabe Takaharu, and the courses that take advantage of the magnificent Takaharu are very popular. The playing fees are cheaper compared to urban areas, and the courses are well maintained, so the number of people coming from overseas for golf trips is increasing.

Enjoy golf in a cool environment at a high altitude, and nearby hotels offer accommodation packages that include golf. There is a day-trip hot spring facility, "Kannabe Onsen Yutorogi," at the roadside station in Kannabe Takaharu, where you can relax and soothe your tired body after a round of golf.

Kannabe Takaharu Country Club

Kannabe Country Club is a golf course located on Mt. Otsukue in the Kannabe Takaharu. The course encircles Mt. Otsukue, offering beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons. Situated on a Takaharu at an altitude of 420m, the course design makes the most of the natural surroundings, allowing players to enjoy playing while overlooking the foothills of the Kannabe ski resort. The golf course also features a restaurant that boasts dishes made with local ingredients.

This golf course is situated on the summit of Okayama, 658 meters above sea level, surrounded by abundant nature. From the summit, you can look down on Mt. Kannabeyama, and on clear days, you can even see the Nihon Sea. Even in summer, the wind is cool, allowing you to enjoy golf in a refreshing climate. Each hole is separated by deciduous trees, and the course features a variety of hole layouts, including uphill and downhill shots.

Kannabe Takaharu tourist information

The Kannabe Takaharu Station houses the Hidaka Kannabe Tourism Association, where visitors can obtain various tourist information. The Kannabe Kogen Roadside Takaharu underwent a grand renovation and reopened on August 2, 2026. It features a buffet using fresh vegetables from a direct sales store produced by a popular local restaurant, as well as a direct sales store where visitors can buy Kannabe Takaharu's specialty products and seasonal Takaharu vegetables, making it a convenient base for sightseeing in Kannabe Takaharu.

Additionally, the roadside station has an attached day-trip hot spring facility, "Kannabe Onsen Yutorogi," so you can enjoy a hot spring bath after playing golf. Relax and soothe your travel fatigue in the open-air bath, which offers different scenery in each of the four seasons.

How to get from Kyoto Station to Kannabe Takaharu(by train)

From JR Kyoto Station, take the Limited Express "Hashidate" (transfer at Fukuchiyama Station) or "Kinosaki" train, and you will arrive at JR Ebara Station in about 2 hours and 5 minutes. From JR Ebara Station, take the Zentan Bus Kannabe Takaharu Line, and it takes about 30 minutes to the Kannabe Takaharu Roadside Station bus stop.

How to get to Kannabe Takaharu from Osaka Station or Osaka Station (by train)

From JR Osaka Station or JR Osaka Station, take the Limited Express "Kounotori" and arrive at JR Ebara Station in approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. From JR Ebara Station, take the Zentan Bus Kannabe Takaharu Line and it takes about 30 minutes to the Kannabe Takaharu Roadside Station bus stop.

This is the oldest playhouse in the Kinki region, which opened in the late Meiji period. It hosted performances such as Kabuki, Rakugo, and movies, and flourished as a part of Tajima's popular culture. It closed in the mid-Showa period, but underwent major renovations in the Heisei period and reopened as a playhouse in 2008. It is used for a wide range of purposes, from Kabuki performances to local events, and the interior is also open to the public.
