Highlights of the Naha Tug-of-War Festival, a traditional event that adds color to autumn in Okinawa.

The Naha Great Tug-of-War Festival, a quintessential autumn event in Naha City, will be held over three days from October 10th (Saturday) to October 12th (Monday). The main event, the "Flag Procession and Naha Great Tug-of-War," will take place on October 11th (Sunday) along National Route 58, where tens of thousands of people will pull on the world's largest rope, which holds a Guinness World Record. It is said that taking home a small branch of the rope after it has been pulled will bring happiness to the person who obtains it, making it a very popular souvenir and good luck charm for those visiting Okinawa.
