Currently based in Hokuto City, which is blessed with abundant nature including water, air, and land, we offer ramen and course meals that can only be tasted here, using local ingredients .

The dishes, infused with the bounty of Hokuto and the owner's dedication, are a must-try on this trip .

The owner's recommended dish is "Muku," a tonkotsu soy sauce ramen named after the restaurant.

This signature dish of our restaurant boasts a rich umami flavor harmoniously balanced with a smooth and gentle taste. We are committed to an additive-free flavor that brings out the natural deliciousness of the ingredients, without relying on chemical seasonings .

After lunch, we headed to "Three Generations of School Buildings: A Village of Interaction," where three school buildings from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras stand side by side. The grounds, lined with wooden school buildings each with a different atmosphere from different eras, are a photogenic space where every corner is picturesque . A leisurely stroll while admiring the historical buildings will fill you with a sense of nostalgia.

Within the grounds is the Tsugane School, a historical museum housed in a Meiji-era school building . Here, visitors can learn about the region's history and culture through classrooms and educational materials from that period . The building itself has a charming atmosphere, making it a recommended spot for those who enjoy photography.

Another highlight is "Oishii Gakko," a multi-purpose facility utilizing a wooden school building from the early Showa period.

The Shirakawa , which originates in the Minami Alps and Kai Mount Komagatake , is a pristine stream selected as one of Japan's " 100 Best Waters ." It's a popular spot where you can enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons.

Crossing the suspension bridge near Chikuu Mount Komagatake Shrine and walking along the gorge path, you'll find yourself in front of Sengabuchi . It's about a 15-minute walk from the Shirakawa parking lot, where you'll be greeted by a fantastical landscape of emerald green water sparkling in the light and towering rock faces . Why not take your time to enjoy the unique nature of Hokuto City, surrounded by the sound of clear water and cool air?

During the peak season of July and August, the Shirakawa parking lot is expected to be crowded with hikers and tourists, so it is recommended to visit with plenty of time to spare.

I went to "Daimin," a restaurant run by Yamanashi Meijo, known for its sake "Shichiken."

Opened in 2000, this restaurant is a popular spot for visitors to the sake brewery to enjoy local ingredients and sake at their leisure . The building incorporates old materials from the early Meiji period, and the interior retains historical items such as sake sales ledgers from that time, creating a charming space steeped in history.

The dishes generously use seasonal ingredients grown locally . Among them , we especially recommend the "Salmon (Koji-marinated) Set Meal," which features salmon carefully marinated in koji handmade by the brewery's staff . The gentle sweetness and umami of the koji enhance the deliciousness of the salmon, and it pairs perfectly with sake.

The final stop on our trip was Daigahara Hara Main Store, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop representative of Hokuto City .

The shop, which carries on the tradition of Japanese sweets since its founding, offers a Toyotomi of seasonal products, including Hokuto City 's famous "Mizu Shingen Mochi." Why not find a souvenir or treat for yourself to remember your trip?

The "Sunflower Wagashi," available for a limited time during the summer starting July 20, 2026, is a confection inspired by the sunflowers that bloom profusely in Akeno-cho , Hokuto City . Using homemade smooth bean paste, it delicately depicts sunflowers blooming vibrantly towards the summer sun.
